How We Do It

Achieving the right balance

Raspberry Frog takes a holistic approach to web design. We believe that there are seven fundamental components of web design and that each element plays an essential role in the success of any web project. The success of each project is based on achieving a balance between all the components. Let's take a look at each component:

Site objectives

The vision of where you want your company to be is its greatest asset. We tap into that vision to provide you with a high-end web strategy that will be the backbone of your web project.

Web content

Web content is not the same as offline information. "Web users glance at pages, scan some of the text and click on the first link that catches their interest or vaguely resembles the thing they're looking for" (Krug S. 2006). Our company ensures that the content of your website is well-written, clearly understood and adapted to your target audience and that it supports your business' objectives.

Aesthetics

The visual design is the first aspect of a website observed by a user. Through aesthetics, your website will make a first impression in less than a blink of eye. We design websites around the idea that they should be aesthetically pleasing without compromising accessibility and usability.

Usability

Web usability is a term used to describe the ease and speed with which people can use a website to achieve a particular task. The benefits of having a usable website include more return visitors, increased sales, increased user satisfaction, improved perception of your company and faster download times. We optimize your customers' web experience and avoid unnecessary future redesign costs by factoring in usability at the design stage.

Accessibility

Accessibility is about making your website accessible to the widest possible audience whether they are disabled or not.

The benefits include increased usability, increased market share, higher ranking in search engines, reduced maintenance costs and greater compatibility & future proofing.

It is also a legal requirements for any company that offers goods and services on the Internet to ensure that their site is accessible (Disability Rights Commission 2004).

Web development

All web standards are established by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). These include HTML 4.01, XHTML 1.0 & 1.1, CSS CSS2.0 & 2.1 & the Document Object Models (DOM). Conforming to these guidelines ensures that your web pages work with most browsers, users and devices.

All of our websites strictly conform to the W3C guidelines and additional testing techniques are used during the design and development process for accessibility and usability.

Project management

Raspberry Frog has developed a methodology and standard processes that work well with small and medium-sized companies and guarantee that your web project will meet your requirements, will be delivered on time and under budget.
