Choose a Specific Project for your Donation at Cancer Research UK

04 December 2009

Cancer Research UK has announced the launch of their My Projects trial website, where supporters of the charity organization can choose exactly how their donation dollars are spent. Innovation director, Kevin Waudby, said that in the past this opportunity has been extended only to those donating at the highest dollar levels. Offering it to all supporters may attract donors who prefer a closer relationship with their charity dollars.

The lack of a personal connection has been a drawback with online charity websites, and the new approach seeks to bridge this gap.

The My Projects site provides facts and figures about Cancer Research UK’s various research projects and allows supporters to earmark their donations for a research project that appeals specifically to them. For instance, the project of choice may involve a particular type of cancer or a certain sector of cancer treatment, such as cancer-care nurses.

Scheduled for its official opening in March, the new scheme will allow for a closer relationship between supporters and Cancer Research UK.
